TUXEDO, N.Y. (AP) — State police say a truck driver from New Jersey has been killed in a collision with car on the New York State Thruway in the Hudson Valley.
Troopers say a car was traveling slowly with its hazard lights on as it attempted to pull onto the shoulder of the southbound lanes of Interstate 87 around 9:10 p.m. Monday in the Orange County town of Tuxedo, 40 miles north of New York City.
Police say a tractor-trailer slammed into the back of the vehicle, sending both vehicles off the highway and into trees.
Troopers say the truck driver, 35-year-old Quadir Holman of Newark, was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Two people in the car were injured. One was treated and released and the other is hospitalized.
