PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say a northern New York man will undergo surgery to have his left eye removed after being hit in the head with a shovel during a fight with another man.
State police tell the Press-Republican of Plattsburgh (http://bit.ly/14BLjbW ) that 24-year-old Nathan Langdon of Plattsburgh started a fight with another man on Aug. 27. Troopers say the man's brother got a metal shovel and used it to hit Langdon in the head, causing severe damage to his left eye.
Langdon was taken to the hospital in Burlington, Vt. Troopers say he's scheduled to undergo surgery in Albany to remove his damaged eye.
Troopers say the 21-year-old man who hit Langdon with the shovel has been charged with felony assault.
