NEW YORK (AP) — Four families in Queens have been displaced following a 5-alarm fire that damaged several homes and injured 11 firefighters.
The Red Cross says it has provided the families with emergency housing and funds for food and clothing.
The blaze began at about 8 p.m. Monday in a two-story row house at 78-15 68th Avenue in Middle Village.
It took about 200 firefighters and several hours to bring the rapidly moving fire under control. Fire officials say five other homes on the block were also damaged.
The injuries to the 11 firefighters were described as minor.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but it did not appear to be suspicious.
