NEW YORK (AP) — A New York City man who suffered a severe head wound after being struck by a remote control helicopter has died.
Police say Thursday the accident occurred at about 3:40 p.m. in a park off the Belt Parkway in the Gravesend section of Brooklyn.
Police say the victim was a 19-year-old man.
It wasn't immediately clear how the accident occurred. Police didn't say if the man was struck by the remote control helicopter he was operating or another. They do not suspect any criminality.
Model aircraft enthusiasts are permitted to operate in Calvert Vaux Park. A group called Seaview Rotary Wings organizes flights in the park. Club officials didn't immediately return requests for comment.
